Our History

In 1997, Youth Organizations United to Rise opened its doors. Since then, we’ve been providing out of school time programs for families and building our community.

1988

Our founder, Joyce Madyun, began providing out of school time programs for children in her basement.

1991

Her programs became so popular that she was asked to provide the same programs at her neighborhood elementary school.

1995

Her programs became so popular that she was asked to provide the same programs at her neighborhood elementary school.

1997

By 1997, the program and her vision had outgrown the school.

Mrs. Madyun and her husband used equity from their home to purchase a derelict property on the corner of 14th and Farragut Street NW.

1999
